Peace of mind about what you owe.

Medical bills are written for someone else. HCC FIRST reviews them for you and tells you, in a sentence, what's okay to pay.

Why this exists

I built HCC FIRST because the answer to “is this right?” shouldn't require a professional, and shouldn't cost more than the bill.

What we actually do

A hospital bill tells you what a provider charged. Your insurer's statement tells you what your plan settled. Between those two documents sits the number that's genuinely yours — and nobody is required to show it to you plainly.

That's the whole job. We review both, together, and say what's okay to pay.

Sometimes the answer is pay it, it's correct. Sometimes it's don't pay yet, here's what's missing. On a large hospital bill, sometimes it's let us take this one — and then a person picks up the phone.

  • We review the paperworkBills, itemized statements, explanations of benefits, denial letters. You upload; we do the review and analysis using both AI and human experts.
  • We tell you plainlyOne sentence about what to pay, what to question, and what to leave alone until something changes.
  • We make the call when it mattersOn qualifying hospital bills, with your authorization, we negotiate directly with the billing department. You approve the result before anything is settled.

What we won't do

  • We won't promise savingsWe don't know what a provider will agree to until we ask. If we don't reduce a bill, there's no fee for that bill.
  • We won't sell your informationNot your bills, not your health information, not to anyone, ever. Your employer doesn't see your documents either.
  • We won't guessIf the documents don't support a conclusion, we say so rather than inventing one. “We're still waiting on your insurer” is an answer we give often.
  • We won't act without askingNegotiation is something you opt into, bill by bill. We never contact a provider on your behalf until you've said to.

Your documents are yours

Your bills sit in a vault that only you can open. We hold them to the handling standards HIPAA describes — encryption, access controls, logging, contracts binding every vendor that touches them — while being straight with you that HCC FIRST is not a hospital or an insurer and can't claim to be a covered entity.

We wrote that out in full rather than putting a badge on the page.
